The Gold Rush and their mean upwind force flick proved too much for Steel this past Saturday. Gold came back from one point down to take the first half, the score at 9-8. The second half was mostly golden, and the game ended at 17-10. Kudos to Gold for their success in the wind and for all the layout blocks they had against Steel. Steel highlights: ...Steve Frame launching a long flick with a perfect touch to Martha Pentecost for a score; Martha made several of these nice downfield cuts during the game. ...Beth Cates getting open as she does a lot and then turning to find Lisa Carter already open and ready for a flow pass for a score; Lisa does this well and does this often. ...Hart Matthews laying out for an outstanding catch along the sideline, then hopping up to thread a forehand needle for a score in the front corner of the end zone. ...Wes Hunt playing good defense, including some nice blocks close to the golden end zone to give us good field position. Good clean game and good clean fun. BJ--Thanks for the brownies. PS--Gold players run lots and run hard but at least you can see where they are in those bright jerseys.
