Youth is Served

It was warm, the sun was shining, and it was actually possible to work up a sweat. I guess that's why White boasted 17 players and Stonewash Blue had 14. Where were you all last week in the cold rain? The first four points took an eternity to play with each team committing multiple errors (at one point 4 straight without a pass being completed), and at 2-2 a good 30 minutes into the game, it became obvious that whichever team could maintain its stamina would come out on top. Trouble was, with rosters that large it might well take 'til Monday to find out which team that was. And then it happened-White stopped making errors, and the rout was on. Riding the scores of young legs picked out of the draft hat by a befuddled recent arrival to the area, captain Rich Bolen, White went on a 15-4 run to victory. It's hard to name names-everybody got involved and played well. Our captain will be so proud to hear about it. On the Stonewash side, Mark, Perry, and Barry did their best to keep it close, but the army of white legs just kept going, and eventually they succumbed. There really is no substitute for youth. Too bad it's wasted on the young.
