the game started a good 20 minutes late, of course. sand was short-handed with only one sub each for men and woman, so the forest allowed us to pick up alan hoyle. i looked across at forest's line-up and noticed they had a very strong team: jeff plentl, carl erickson, drew preiss, stacy doyle and sarah danninger (i thanked god that sarah boudreau wasn't there!). but so much for that. the game started and it was 5-0 in sand's favor before forest was able to put one up on the board. although you wouldn't have guessed the point deficit if you watched carl erickson play who was laying out and making incredible grabs all over the place and eating up swill. sand played zone most of the game since we were so short handed, and this proved to work incredibly well against forest. first half ended 9-2. forest made us drop alan for the second (no biggie, we needed to get rid on some baggage...just kidding alan). i can't really remember what happened the rest of the game, but sand ended up winning 17-7, mostly due to the earnest cheering by mel and our namesake, sandy hartwiger himself. this week's points winner was marc kessler.
