Slate sinks Navy

Submitted by: Mike Soo Slate on 1/6/2001 at 8:12:08 PM

Slate, apparantly inspired by the home white uniforms, handed Navy thier second loss in a rather loosely played affair. Slate used favourable height match ups on their deep looks, while for Navy, most of their long throws were aimed toward the vicinity of the windy end-zone, were they were 1 for 7 on hucks. This may have been the difference, as in other phases of the game, the teams were more equal. Both teams tried zone once before deciding it was too much mental effort and switched back to man. When Slate played zone, Hinkle managed to touch the disc every other pass, something he had been too lazy to do against man D. When Navy played Zone, Trubey, Damien, Mo and 2 of our 3 Mikes patiently shredded the Z like it was swiss cheese. Niether team threw enough hammers, but someone had to win, as Slate pulled away 17-9 or 10.
