Captain Tom L cleverly lost the flip knowing that Denim would elect to play D to start. Slate goes up 2-0 on a huck from Mike to Brad, who then needed a sub to wipe his son's nose. Denim then went on top 3-2 and later 6-4, capitalizing on Slate turnovers. I don't remember all the goals, but the prettiest for Denim in that run was Roy to Darren with a 50 yd flick. Denim was also able to beat the Slate zone (except for the first time it was played) with good popping through the middle and a few key hammers. However, missed opportunities for Denim allowed Slate to move back into the lead. Slate had a chance to take half at 9-7, but a dropped goal allowed Slate to tie at 8's, then take half. In the second half, Slate cut back on its turnovers, got some endzone D, and pushed the disc more aggressively in transition. The play that seemed to take the wind out of Denim's sails was a 60 yd bullet from Stephan to Scotty against the sideline trap and a high stall. As Stephan goes, so goes Slate. Slate wins, 17-11, or was it twelve? A good game all around with several players contributing on both sides.
