'oh yeah, it's real fun to play zone all game' is the post-game comment that came oozing from lang's mouth (along with a good amount of regurgitated beer and spittle that, with a crazed look in his eye, was quickly lapped up with a single swipe of his tongue). so sad. so, so sad. both teams were a bit shorthanded, personnel-wise: sand was able to make use of mel ditz (although she was only allowed to play lefty) and purple had only one woman (but damn if she wasn't the best player they had) whose name i would spell so egregiously wrong that i won't attempt it (sounds like suh-hi). and yes, sand DID play zone the entire game (if ya got it, use it!), but purple tried it too, although sand was able to work it (you do this to cheese - rhymes with thread). and so, purple could not stop the juggernaut that was sand, with the 2 layout d's that john kim got in a single point, brodi catching 2 scores that were misreads by lang (don't see that often!), jeff's layout score and lang dropping not 1, but 2 discs during the game (although he SWEARS he only dropped one because he thought that he was out of bounds on the other... yeah, right lang. maybe if you say it enough you'll begin to believe it yourself). as always, jp and kessler were big forces on sand and purple's state player(?), their woman and steve boone were working us in the zone. good game purple. this was one of the most fun and spirited games that we've played yet. everyone was very friendly and truly seemed to have a good time. sand 17, purple 9.
